In the first quarter of 2026, the volume of TIR road transport between China and Kyrgyzstan increased by 80% year on year, reaching a share of 60%, becoming the main format of cross-border transport. With the principle of "single sealing, complete exemption from inspection all the way, direct follow-through", the TIR system requires only one-time inspection between China, Kyrgyzstan and other participating countries, significantly reducing downtime at the border. At the Kashgar, Khorgos and Irkeshtam border crossings, special TIR lanes with priority release have been allocated, and the average customs clearance time has been reduced from two hours to 30 minutes. Since 2026, TIR road freight transportation between China and Kyrgyzstan has become regular; the Kashgar-Bishkek line operates daily with a delivery time of 3 days and a cost reduction of 25% compared to traditional road transportation. The TIR system reduces the compliance risks of enterprises, increases the stability of transportation and promotes the effective growth of Chinese-Kyrgyz trade.
