In 2026, the Northeast Passage of the Arctic entered regular commercial use, the duration of summer navigation was increased from 2 to 4 months, the route became a new corridor for energy and bulk cargo between China and Russia. With Rosatom's icebreaker support and the involvement of specialized polar-class vessels, this route mainly transports oil, gas, mineral raw materials and large-sized equipment. Compared with traditional ocean lines, the distance from Northern China ports to European Russian ports is reduced, saving time and costs. More than ten Chinese and Russian shipping companies have opened regular flights, the entire route is under intelligent monitoring of ice and meteorological conditions. Climate warming and technological modernization are improving shipping conditions, cargo with high added value is also beginning to choose this route, and a structure of complementary multimodal corridors is being formed.
