The first freight train was sent from Gansu along the route China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan in the “railway + road” format: Lanzhou – Hairatan (Afghanistan)

In February 2026 (on the first day of the Lunar New Year), the International Logistics Group of Gansu Province sent the first train in the Year of the Horse on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan route in a mixed rail-road service. The train left Lanzhou International Land Port loaded with daily goods and auto parts weighing about 1,200 tons. Through the Irkeshtam border crossing, the train transited through the territory of Kyrgyzstan and arrived at its final destination - Hairatan (Afghanistan). Thanks to multimodal transportation and coordination of border crossings, high efficiency of customs clearance, stable delivery times, reduction of transshipment time, reduction of costs and increased efficiency are ensured, forming a stable supply chain to meet the consumer and industrial needs of Central Asia. Gansu Province continues to increase the density of its international freight train network, promoting the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative and the construction of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor.
