In the first quarter of 2026, the Torugart border crossing, overcoming severe frosts (down to -20°C) and snow drifts, increased the passage of trucks by 25% in annual terms - up to 12 thousand transport units. The border crossing modernized snow removal and de-icing equipment, additionally organized free rental of snow chains, heated rest areas for drivers and a service station, ensuring round-the-clock operation in the winter. Customs authorities have simplified the winter declaration of perishable products, ensuring priority release of vegetables and fruits, meat and medicines; Together with the border service and transport departments, traffic lanes are dynamically adjusted, and additional time windows are opened during peak hours. Torugart, being a traditional Chinese-Kyrgyz border crossing, mainly passes through coal, mineral raw materials, construction materials and everyday goods. Stable operation during the winter period ensures the continuity of supply chains, contributing to year-round prosperity of Sino-Kyrgyz trade.
