In the first quarter of 2026, at the Chinese-Kazakh border - border crossings Khorgos, Dulata, Bakty and others - a large-scale expansion of “green corridors” was carried out, covering perishable goods, medicines, electric vehicles on new energy sources, cross-border e-commerce parcels and other categories. Priority inspection and priority release have increased the efficiency of customs clearance by 40%. Customs authorities have simplified declarations by introducing “two-stage declaration” and “consolidated payment of duties”; automatic triple matching of bills of lading, waybills and declarations ensures 90% of standard cargo is directly released on arrival. The Khorgos border crossing has been upgraded with intelligent inspection equipment, the level of X-ray scanning instead of manual inspection has reached 70%, and the average customs clearance time has been reduced from 4 to 1.5 hours. Green corridors have intensified bilateral trade: in the first quarter of 2026, the volume of Chinese-Kazakh imports and exports grew by 46.6% year on year.
